SBI’s price performance may have been disappointing, but investors need to be patient, HDFC AMC Chief Investment Officer Prashant Jain said in an interview to CNBCTV18.
“The business has done well and whether you look at the progress in terms of operating profits or its market share, all the tremendous value that has been created in the subsidiaries and these are listed subsidiaries,” he said.
“So I don’t think the franchise is at risk, the technology platform YONO….YONO is doing incredibly well and few years down the line how YONO itself is valued, will be interesting to see. But yes, the price performance has been disappointing,” he said.
“I think what has happened is just when you are coming out of the corporate stress precisely that very time COVID hit us and that has definitely impacted the outlook towards financials, but these very large, very sustainable which are fit for the future also, they are trading --- if you eliminate the value of the subsidiaries the bank is practically free. So we need to keep our patience, we need to keep our faith,” he said.
