We are in the middle of a festive season - Navratri and Dussehra are done. We are counting down now to Diwali and then on to Christmas. The auto sector and more specifically the passenger vehicles category is seeing a very strong recovery and many companies are reporting pre-lockdown levels of sales and production.

The luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has been the market leader since 2015 and continues to hold that position with 5,007 units sold up to September 2020. The numbers for October are not public yet, but it has sold 550 cars during the Navratri-Dussehra 10-day period.
However, will the positive consumer sentiment and demand be fleeting or is it going to last? What role will brands and marketing play in sustaining this current momentum? To discuss this, Anuradha Sengupta spoke to Martin Schwenk, managing director, and chief executive officer of Mercedes Benz India.
