In what's expected to redefine the cinematic landscape in Mumbai, PVR INOX will soon inaugurate its first standalone IMAX with laser theatre at INOX EROS in Churchgate. It marks an upgrade of the 86-year-old heritage EROS cinema.
PVR INOX, the country's largest and most premium cinema exhibitor, said that the redefined theatre would have a 305-seat capacity, besides a next-generation laser projection and multi-channel sound system for an immersive experience.
IMAX has a 4K laser projection system, incorporating a new optical engine with a range of exclusive technologies. This setup will ensure a crystal-clear image, enhanced resolution, and deeper contrast with vivid, life-like colours on the screen, PVR INOX said in a statement. The setup will also be coupled with giant screens, laser-aligned speakers, and patented DMR technology to improve the movie-going experience.
Talking about the latest initiative, Ajay Bijli, Managing Director, PVR INOX Limited, said, “As a leader in the cinema exhibition industry, PVR INOX is transforming the movie-going experience for audiences across India. We are extremely proud to play our part in the revival of the iconic cinema, EROS, Mumbai, which truly represents the aspirations of evolving cinema audiences.”
“The reopening of the heritage cinema marks a significant milestone, introducing the world's most immersive movie experience for the people in South Mumbai,” he added.
INOX EROS is PVR INOX’s fifth IMAX screen in Mumbai and 23rd in the national circuit. The move also aims to enhance the company’s presence in the state, with a total of 253 screens across 53 such properties. As per the press release, in the western region of India, the screen count has risen to 346 across 78 properties so far. An increase in its chain is also contributing to the brand's commitment to offering an unparalleled cinematic experience to its audience.
The cinema has integrated the original Art Deco design with the inspiring scale of IMAX. While the lobby evokes a Broadway-esque ambience, the compact yet dynamic space featuring a live cooking food counter will be a highlight, stated the statement.
