Damani spoke to CNBC-TV18 at the 19th edition of CNBC-TV18's India Business Leader Awards (IBLA), held in Mumbai on December 2.
"Volatility is what happens to us. That is where you have to take advantage of whether the market will go up or down. The next 2000 points could be up or down, no one knows. That is volatility," Damani said.
"Risk is the chance that you permanently lose capital. If the last 30 years since 1992 as least have shown us is that this is a great bull market in India and onward and upward as they say," he added.
Indian equities continued their record-breaking run in 2023, as the Nifty 50 hit a record high on Friday, while the broader market outperformance continued.
A member of the BSE, Damani also spoke about the passing of Berkshire Hathaway vice chairman Charlie Munger, saying that his insights into investing, corporate governance, and personal conduct will continue to resonate for generations. “Charlie Munger’s influence, despite his 100 years of a ripe life, will extend for the next 100 years and beyond," said Damani.
"What I have learnt over the last 30 years is to remain invested in high quality businesses and not worry about the volatility that happens. That is a part of the market," Damani had told CNBC-TV18 in an exclusive interaction on the occassion of the Muhurat Trading session for Samvat 2080.
