The Supreme Court on Tuesday, January 23, directed for the listing of a public interest litigation against Adani Power on January 31. The development comes after advocate Dushyant Dave lashed out at the apex court registry for failure to list the said PIL and mentioned the issue before the court.
The senior advocate called the conduct of the Supreme Court registry "disturbing" adding that the court proposed the listing of the case after two weeks. Dave highlighted that it has been eight weeks now.
The advocate claimed that if the registry is refusing to list the PIL at the behest of the government, it is a case of contempt of the court. Dave also called for the summoning of the registry officials in the court. "SC proposes, registry disposes," he said.
In February 2023, a PIL was filed against the company at a division bench of the Calcutta High Court against the installation of high-tension electricity lines by Adani Group's power plant in Murshidabad.
