In a strategic move set to significantly impact Gujarat's economic landscape, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) Ltd, the prominent bottling arm of Coca Cola in India, has announced an investment of ₹3,000 crore in the state. The investment aims to establish a cutting-edge facility in Rajkot dedicated to the production of both juice and aerated beverages, with operations slated to commence by 2026.
HCCB, in a statement issued on Wednesday, December 13, said, "The investment is expected to create a considerable industrial footprint, fostering substantial economic and social growth in the region.”
The Government of Gujarat has pledged unwavering support, assuring expedited processes for obtaining necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, and clearances, the company informed.
The forthcoming facility in Rajkot marks a strategic expansion for HCCB, which currently operates facilities in Goblej (Kheda district) and Sanand (Ahmedabad district). The investment is expected to result in an increase in the company's workforce in the state, more than doubling its current strength to 1,500 employees.
An official statement from HCCB underscored the broader implications of the project, deeming it a catalyst for regional development.
"We foresee this project as a catalyst for regional development, bringing in new opportunities for local talent and reinforcing our commitment to Gujarat’s economic and social progress," said an HCCB official.
HCCB, with a nationwide presence, currently manages 16 factories across India, producing a diverse range of 60 products spanning seven categories. The company reported a robust revenue of ₹12,735.12 crore from its operations for the financial year concluding on March 31, 2023.
