In the FAQ section, on accepting Rs 2,000 notes for COD payments and cash loads, Amazon mentions, “Yes, we are currently accepting Rs 2,000 currency notes. Starting September 19, 2023, we will not be accepting Rs 2,000 currency notes for Cash on Delivery (COD) orders or Cashloads.”
As per the updates, Amazon also responded to the query related to the maximum value or limit up to which the Rs 2,000 currency will be accepted. It said that one can pay the complete order value with the discontinued currency. However, it also suggested checking the COD limits before placing the order.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has withdrawn the circulation of Rs 2,000 notes from the Indian market since May 19, this year. However, the currency note is still accepted as legal tender. While discontinuing the circulation, RBI advised all the banks to immediately stop circulating the Rs 2,000 currency notes. According to the RBI, the discontinued currency notes are valid to be exchanged or deposited at the banks till September 30, 2023. If anyone still has Rs 2,000 notes, they can exchange them at the nearest branch of any bank.
After the withdrawal of the currency, the RBI stated that 50 percent of Rs 2,000 notes in circulation had been returned to banks within 20 days. The Rs 2,000 denomination banknote was initially introduced in November 2016 after demonetisation.
