A missing washer was found on a Boeing 737MAX aircraft operated by an Indian carrier, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement. A total of 39 aircraft were inspected and except one, all were completed with nil findings.
The DGCA has said that rectification action as per recommendations of Boeing has been taken prior to the release of this aircraft. The inspection of the remaining aircraft will be completed prior to release for service.
The development comes after an airline operator informed about a missing nut and washer in the Aft Rudder Quadrant on a Boeing 737MAX airplane. Subsequently, airline maker Boeing recommended a one-time inspection of all Boeing 737MAX airplanes before 10th January 2024 for possible loose hardware.
Indian Boeing 737MAX fleet of 40 is operated by Akasa, SpiceJet and Air India Express. Akasa operates 22 Boeing 737MAX, and SpiceJet and Air India Express operate nine each.

The US National Transportation Safety Board said that it could not yet tell whether a recovered cabin panel that blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 plane in mid-air last week had been properly attached.
This comes after Alaska Airlines and United Airlines said that they found loose parts on multiple grounded aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Saturday grounded 171 MAX 9 planes after the Alaska Airlines incident.
