Jet Airways to reinstate 50 flights from March 31

Post the exit of Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita Goyal from the board of Jet Airways, the new management of the airline along with the lenders on Tuesday met senior aviation ministry officials including secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola among others. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief BS Bhullar was also present at the meeting.

The composition of the interim committee which will operate the airline is expected to be revealed in a day or two, company officials said.

"We are optimistic and looking upwards. The composition of the interim committee will be revealed soon," said chief executive officer Vinay Dube.

The airline's current active fleet stands at 35 planes with almost 70 percent of its total fleet of 119 planes grounded.

Lessors have given a 72-hour window to the airline for grounding planes and as many as 54 planes are out of operations due to non-payment of lease rentals. Remaining 30 are likely to be inactive as a result of maintenance.

The airline is yet to take a call on pending salaries of engineers and pilots.

Jet Airways' domestic pilots body, the National Aviators Guild (NAG), on Tuesday sought a meeting with SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar over pending salaries.

"It is our humble request to you to alleviate some of the hardships that we and the AMEs have been facing by ensuring that the Jet Airways management does not further delay the release of our pending salaries and clears our dues at the earliest," NAG said.
