Jet Airways pilot union to not fly from Monday
Nearly 1,100 pilots of Jet Airways pilot union, National Aviators Guild, will not be flying from the first hour of Monday (IST) as the airline has been unable to pay pending dues of the past three months.

"We won't be flying from tomorrow," one of the members of the union told CNBC-TV18. The airline has a total of around 1400 pilots. It is unclear whether the non-union members will continue flying or not.
The pilots had decided in their last open house that they will wait until April 14 for the company to disburse the substantial amount of pending dues and in the case of failure, the union members will stop flying from April 15.
This comes when the airline is flying around 6-7 planes on a daily basis, largely comprising of ATRs and one Boeing 737. International operations and several domestic parts have been shut down temporarily until the company gets money to run on a full or substantial scale.
In a mail to employees on Friday, Jet Airways CEO Vinay Dube had admitted that the international operations have been suspended due to unavailability of much-needed interim funding and that the airline is flying seven planes on domestic routes.
The airline had an inconclusive meeting with the lenders on Friday with regard to emergency funds.
While Dube told the employees in the letter that he has been conveyed that credible Expression of Interest and significant interest has been received for stake buy in Jet Airways, SBI Capital Markets is yet to release a statement on that.
On Monday, the management of the stressed carrier will hold a meeting with the lenders again and its outcome will hold the key for the future of Jet Airways.
