Indian airlines carried 113.49 lakh passengers in February 2019 as against 107.44 lakh during January, thereby registering a growth of 5.62 percent, according to data released by Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
In February, the market share of no-frills airline IndiGo rose to 43.4 percent and that of debt-laden Jet Airways dropped to 11.4 percent, showed the latest data by the aviation regulator.
In January, IndiGo's market share was 42.5 percent while Jet Airway's market share was 13.6 percent.
The February data of the DGCA showed that the market share of Air India, SpiceJet, GoAir, Air Asia, Vistara stood at 12.8 percent, 13.7 percent, 9.0 percent, 5.1 percent and 4.0 percent, respectively.
The passenger load factor in February has shown an increasing trend and it is primarily due to airlines offering promotional fares resulting in increased demand, DGCA said.
Last month, a total of 983 passenger-related complaints were received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for the month of February has been around 0.87, the DGCA data showed.
As many as 4,021 passengers were denied boarding and 79,795 fliers were impacted by flight cancellations in February. Further, 199,138 people were affected by flight delays last month.
In January, 37,819 fliers were impacted by flight cancellations and 2,64,724 people were affected by flight delays.
As many as 47 aircraft of Jet Airways are on the ground as it failed to pay rentals to lessors.
The country's largest carrier, IndiGo was forced to cancel almost 70 flights daily earlier in February and has cancelled 30 daily flights till at least March due to pilot shortage.
