With 22 days to go for the high-voltage 2023 men’s cricket World Cup match in Narendra Modi Stadium between arch rivals India and Pakistan, the price of air tickets from various cities to Ahmedabad has increased up to many folds.
According to a report by TOI, the air ticket prices have increased manyfold. Normally, a round-trip ticket from cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Patna, Bhopal and other cities to Ahmedabad costs in the range of Rs 5,000-12,000 per person.
But now, the price has flared up anywhere between 104-415 percent.
“Visiting Ahmedabad during the match days will be a costly affair. We know of a few hotels here that have charged as high as Rs 80,000 per room per night in the wake of high demand. With limited frequency, flight fares are bound to go up,” said a local travel operator to TOI.
However, the airfares are not as high for the opening and qualifier matches of the premium ICC tournament.
The tournament will kick off on October 5, 2023, with 10 teams fighting for the coveted trophy across 10 venues over a 46-day period. India will host the tournament after 12 years. Last time when the country hosted the 50 overs championship, India lifted the trophy after 28 years under the captaincy of M.S. Dhoni.
