DGCA releases domestic winter sched, 23,000 flight departures per week

As compared to Summer Schedule 2023, total flights have been increased by 3.60%  to 23,732 from 22,907 departures per week from 110 airports.

DGCA releases domestic winter sched, 23,000 flight departures per week
Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released Domestic Winter Schedule 2023 (WS 23). As per WS 23; 23,732 departures per week have been finalised to and from 118 airports, effective from October 29, 2023, till March 30, 2024. Earlier for two years consecutively the total number of domestic flights were reduced.

As compared to Summer Schedule 2023, total flights have been increased by 3.60% to 23,732 from 22,907 departures per week from 110 airports. Out of the 118 airports, Bhatinda, Jaisalmer, Ludhiana, Nanded, Shivmoga, Salem, Utkela, Hindon and Ziro are the new airports proposed by the scheduled airlines. Gondia airport has not been proposed in Winter Schedule 2023.
India's largest airline in terms of market share and fleet size IndiGo will operate the 13,119 weekly flights leading the charts. Tata owned airlines will operate 6,209 flights. Air India will operate 2,367, Vistara 1,902, Air Asia 1,457, Air India Express 483 weekly flights respectively.
While SpiceJet will operate 2,132 weekly flights, newly launched Akasa Air and government owned Alliance Air will operate 790 and 914 weekly flights respectively. Star Air will operate 247 weekly flights, Fly Big will operate 191 weekly flights, IndiaOne 112 and Pawan hans 18.
Total number of weekly flights in Winter Schedule 2023 have gone up by 8.16% in comparison to Winter Schedule 2022. Akasa registered 64.93%, IndiGo 30.08% and Air India 18.94% growth in number of weekly departures in comparison to the previous winter schedule. SpiceJet registered a degrowth of 33.23%, Vistara 2.02% and Air Asia 0.34%.
