German vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen on Monday added a new sporty variant to its midsize sedan, the Virtus. The new 'GT DSG' trim comes with cosmetic and feature upgrades, along with a turbo-petrol engine and a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The company has priced the new Virtus GT DSG at Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable GT variant in the lineup.

Design and features
This new variant of the car gets 'GT' branding on the grille, fenders and rear, as well as red-painted front brake callipers, a black rear spoiler, GT-themed upholstery and red ambient lighting.
The sedan also gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker sound system and a wireless mobile charger. It boasts over 40 active and passive safety features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill-hold control and a rear parking camera.
Powertrain and performance
The Virtus GT DSG is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 148 BHP at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,600-3,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that offers smooth and quick shifts.
The Virtus GT DSG is offered in seven exterior colours: Wild Cherry Red, Curcuma Yellow, Carbon Steel Grey, Rising Blue, Candy White, Lava Blue and Reflex Silver.
The Virtus is Volkswagen's midsize sedan that competes with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. It was launched in India in February this year and has received a positive response from customers. The sedan is available in nine variants across three trim levels: Performance Line, Dynamic Line and Comfort Line.
