Transport ministry to soon notify charging technologies for EVs
The ministry of road transport could soon notify charging technologies for electric vehicles, sources said. The two technologies that are likely to be notified are CHAdeMO & CCS.
In a bid to develop indigenous EV charging technology in India, the think tank NITI Aayog has asked the ministry of science to start developing such technologies.
CHAdeMO is a technology favoured by Japanese firms like Toyota and Suzuki, while CCS technology is favoured by European manufacturers such as Volkswagen and BMW.
NITI Aayog has asked Ministry of Science to come up with an Indian charging protocol and to develop indigenous EV charging technology, and a committee has been set up to look at different models globally.
