Tata Motors’ electric arm signs MoU with four CPOs for setting up 10,000 EV chargers by FY25
Homegrown electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), on Monday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with charge point operators (CPOs) — Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon — to set up more than 10,000 charging points in India by FY25.

According to the company statement, this partnership aims to expand India’s charging infrastructure, building on the existing network of each operator and TPEM’s unique insights from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads.
Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and TPEM, said that convenient charging infrastructure is key to driving faster EV adoption and addressing urban pollution. He expressed delight at the strategic collaboration with the CPOs to accelerate India’s journey towards e-mobility.
TPEM will help the four CPOs install chargers at locations most used by its EV owners and share usage data to improve customer experience. The CPOs, which already have nearly 2,000 charging points across key cities, plan to add over 10,000 more within the next 12-15 months.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Charge Zone, said, “With the industry witnessing a high-growth phase of electric mobility, we have been working with automotive OEMs for strategic partnerships and a collaborative approach towards building reliable high speed charging infrastructure.”
Global studies show that widespread and easily accessible charging infrastructure is crucial for the EV ecosystem and leads to a significant increase in EV adoption. This open collaboration between major CPOs and TPEM is expected to speed up the development of charging infrastructure in India, playing a key role in promoting wider EV adoption.
Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Executive Director of Glida, commented, “The partnership opens up opportunities for further enhancing charging infrastructure at favourable customer touch points, increasing reach on highway and city centres, convenient discovery & status of charging infrastructure on EV dashboard, thus putting ‘customer experience’ at the core of this partnership.”
The MoU also includes plans for TPEM to work with the CPOs to potentially introduce a smart payment gateway through co-branded RFID cards for Tata EV users. Customers will also be able to benefit from loyalty programmes from the respective CPOs and have access to a dedicated customer care number.
Raghav Arora, Co-Founder & CTO of Statiq, said, “This partnership represents more than just a business tie-up; it’s a testament to our shared vision for the future of mobility. Together, we aim to redefine the EV landscape, introducing cutting-edge technologies and pioneering solutions that will shape the industry for years to come.”
Karthikeyan KP, MD & CEO of Zeon Charging, added, “Today we are very excited to announce our partnership with TPEM… Our collaboration would help us build a charging ecosystem that is convenient, comprehensive, and relevant EV owners.”
Since its inception, TPEM has worked closely with Tata Power to develop charging infrastructure, resulting in over 4,900 public chargers across India. They also launched the EZ Charge Card, an RFID card allowing customers to start charging with a tap. In addition, an open collaboration with BPCL aims to set up 7,000 chargers over the next year.
