Passenger vehicle sales fall 3.43% in November; car sales decline marginally: SIAM

Passenger vehicle sales fall 3.43% in November; car sales decline marginally: SIAM
Domestic passenger vehicle sales in India skidded 3.43 percent to 2.66 lakh units in November from 2.75 units in the same month, a year ago, revealed data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

According to the SIAM data, the car sales also went down marginally to 1.79 units as against 1.81 units for the same period. During the April-November period, the domestic passenger car sales were up 4.9 percent to 22.94 lakh units.
The domestic sales of UVs fell by 10.2 percent in November to 69,884 units from 77,807 units, a year ago.
 
However, the two-wheeler sales fared better in November. Overall two-wheeler sales grew 7.15 percent to 16.45 units, led by 9.36 percent growth in the motorcycle sales, while scooters grew by 3 percent to 5.21 lakh units during the month over last year. During the April-November period, the domestic two-wheeler sales were up 10.7 percent to 15.27 lakh units.
In the commercial vehicle (CV) segment, overall sales grew by 5.71 percent to 72,812 units during the month. The growth in the CV segment was driven by 19 percent growth in the light CV segment (goods carriers).
However, all other categories in the CV segment witnessed a dip. Sales in the good carriers in the medium and heavy CV segment fell by 11.3 percent.
Passenger carriers in medium and heavy as well as light category slid by 6.9 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively. During the April-November period, passenger carriers sales were up 31.5 percent to 6.47 lakh units.
However, the overall domestic vehicle sales across categories recorded a rise of 5.03 percent to 20.38 units in November from 19.4 units in the same month last year. During the April-November period, vehicle sales are up 11 percent, as compared to the same period, a year ago.
