Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Thursday announced the launch of its much-awaited seven-seater sports utility vehicle (SUV). Christened as XUV700, the SUV will come with several enhanced features, including improved safety protocols and will be launched in the second quarter of FY22. M&M will manufacture it at its facility in Chakan in Maharashtra.
The seven-seater XUV700, pronounced as XUV 7 double ‘Oh’, is built on the W601 platform. Mahindra has previously offered the XUV300 and the XUV500 in this series.
Tweeting about the same. Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, wrote that the SUV was a “beast like nothing you’ve ever seen before”, adding that it will be the “new ruler of the jungle”.

On the SUV's name, Veejay Nakra, CEO of the automotive division, M&M, said, “The XUV700, one of the most awaited offerings from Mahindra is sure to hit the sweet spot with customers. Built on the new W601 platform, XUV700 marks the beginning of the next generation of sophisticated and authentic Mahindra SUVs which will offer an adrenaline rush like never before.”
R Velusamy, the chief of Global Product Development, M&M said that a young team with an obsession for excellence created the XUV700. “The XUV portfolio has always stood for creating disruptions and setting new benchmarks with models such as the XUV500 and the XUV300. The XUV700 is built on an all-new global SUV platform W601, with expert partners across the world and will boast of first-in-segment technologies and features.”
The XUV700, once launched, is likely to rival the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and the MG Gloster in the domestic market.
