KTM launches new 390 Duke and 250 Duke in India with updated engines, features and styling
KTM has launched the third generation of its 390 Duke in India, priced at Rs 3,10,520 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 3rd-gen 390 Duke gets several updates over its predecessor, such as a newer engine, gearbox and a host of other features.

The new 390 Duke features an all-new and larger 399cc engine that produces 45hp and 39Nm, which is 1.5hp and 2Nm more than before. The engine is housed in a completely new trellis frame that now features an aluminium sub-frame and all-new suspension – a revised upside-down fork and a new offset mono-shock attached to a redesigned swingarm.
The styling and the features have also been updated on the new bike. The tank extensions and the headlight region have been redesigned, giving the bike a more aggressive look. The new 390 Duke also gets three riding modes: Rain, Street and Track, each one offering sharper power delivery than the last. The Track mode also includes launch control and traction control as standard. Other features include cornering ABS and a bi-directional quick-shifter.
Despite the fact that the new 390 Duke is around Rs 13,000 more expensive than the previous model, it still seems to offer good value for money at Rs 3.11 lakh, considering the number of updates it has received. However, it also faces competition from the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 310 (starting at Rs 2.43 lakh). It should also be noted that while the TVS bike may not match the performance levels of the KTM, it does bring in some unique features.

Updated 250 Duke gets ride-by-wire and quick-shifter
KTM has also launched the updated 250 Duke in India, priced at Rs 2,39,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new bike gets several updates on the same lines as the new 390 Duke. The new 250 Duke features a new LC4c single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a redesigned cylinder head and a larger airbox.
The power output of the new engine is not revealed yet, but it is expected to be higher than the previous model. The bike also gets a new two-piece frame and new wheels and brakes that are designed to save weight.
The new 250 Duke also gets some cosmetic updates, such as sporty tank extensions and an LED headlamp. It has a 5-inch digital instrument console that offers smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and a USB Type-C charging port. The bike also gets ride-by-wire and a quick-shifter as standard.
The new 250 Duke is available in two colours – Electronic Orange and Ceramic White. It is priced slightly higher than the previous model, which was Rs 2,34,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for both new bikes are now open on the KTM India website for an amount of Rs 4,500, and the company says that the pair will reach showrooms by mid-September.
