On Monday, Jaguar Land Rover said that it will officially launch I-Pace — its maiden all-electric performance SUV — in India on March 9. Though bookings for I-Pace commenced in India in November 2020, the first units entered the country for testing and validation in January 2021. The launch will take place through a virtual event for members of the media, customers and fans of the brand.
The electric vehicle will be available in three trim levels — S, SE and HSE. It will be seen in a single powertrain option — EV400.
The company has put up a tweet on its official handle to announce the launch:

Rohit Suri, president and managing director, Jaguar Land Rover India stated in a release, "After the fabulous response to the digital launch of the Land Rover Defender, we are excited about curating yet another digital experience for the launch of Jaguar I-PACE in India. This immersive and engaging digital event will provide a peek into a future-facing urban metropolis that is practically designed from the perspective of a sustainable ecosystem, uses innovative technologies and supports efficient modes of mobility like electric vehicles."
Features
The SUV has LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, 19-inch 5-split-spoke alloy wheels, deployable door handles and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, there is a Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster, and automatic climate control.
Battery and engine
A 90kWh lithium-ion battery will power the I-Pace. The battery will take around 45 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent. There are two synchronous permanent magnet electric motors on the front and rear axle, with both of them combining to develop a power output of 394bhp and 696Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the AWD system. The all-electric performance SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.8 seconds.
Jaguar portfolio in India
In India, Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are available in 24 cities, through 28 authorised outlets. The existing range in India consists of:
• XE: Rs 46.64 lakh onwards
• XF: Rs 55.67 lakh onwards
• F-PACE: Rs 66.07 lakh onwards
• F-TYPE: Rs 95.12 lakh onwards
All prices are ex-showroom prices.
After Mercedes drove in its EQC late in 2020, this will be the second fully battery-powered luxury car in India. In 2019, at the World Car Awards, I-Pace won three coveted titles — World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year. It became the first vehicle ever to win in three categories at the same event.
