Hero Motocorp on Monday made its entry in the 125cc scooter segment with the Destini125. The company claims this will be the first scooter in India with the idle start-stop system or i3S technology.

Two variants of the Destini125 will be available across Delhi-NCR from Tuesday priced at Rs 54,650 and 57,500 (ex-showroom). Retail sales of the scooter in other markets will begin in a few weeks.
Earlier this year, Hero announced that the 125cc segment will be a special focus area and the Destini125 launch comes just weeks after the company launched the Xtreme 200R motorcycle.
“Destini125 will target 125cc which is the fastest growing segment in scooters, Sanjay Bhan, head of sales, Hero Motorcorp, told CNBC TV18. We would also be targeting consumers in the 100-110CC category looking for upgrade”.
There is a growing demand from the south and west zone and a lot of urban and semi-urban markets have started moving towards scooters, Bhan said.
Apart from the i3S technology the scooter boasts of digital analog speedometer, side stand indicator, service due reminder, chrome chest, signature tail lamps and side chrome garnishes.
The company hopes this new product launch will help create excitement in the festive season which has witnessed a somber mood so far.
“Festive season hasn’t had a dream start because of the insurance hit on September 1, while there where clarifications but all that confusion must have shaken the market. That’s clearly evident in how everyone is reporting numbers. We thankfully have had a flattish time which is not bad at all," Bhan said.
Bhan also said that he was hopeful of a turnaround and an 8-10 percent growth outlook for the festive season.
