While the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors are using this to revive sentiment in an otherwise dull market, the likes of Kia Motors and Morris Garages are using this to strengthen their position in the Indian automobile industry.
Great Wall, the big Chinese SUV manufacturer, also made its India debut. Sources told CNBC-TV18 that all Chinese delegations and visitors have cancelled their participation in the Auto Expo. CNBC-TV18's Parikshit Luthra, Alisha Sachdev and Areeb Sherwani spoke to several auto industry veterans to get a sense of the mood and their outlook for the sector.
