FM Arun Jaitley flagged off the induction of 15 electric vehicles in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA).
DEA had signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services (EESL) for deployment of 15 EVS for their officers.
28 charging points have also been installed at North block. These EVS have been provided to DEA on lease basis for a period of 5 years.
DEA is expected to save over 36,000 litres of fuel every year leading to reduction of over 440 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
These vehicles are automatic and fully air-conditioned with zero emission
EESL plans to replace govt's 5 lakh conventional internal combustion engine cars with electric variants. It has established charging infrastructure across all states where EVS are being deployed.
