The first week of February saw some interesting launches and announcements in the auto sector, especially at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi.

The three-day expo will end on Saturday, February 3.

Ola S1X (4kWh)
Homegrown electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Ola Electric launched a new scooter, the S1X (4kWh), in India. The scooter, equipped with a 6kW motor, offers a driving range of 190 km on a single charge and is priced at ₹1,09,999. According to the company, the new S1X (4kWh) e-scooter offers acceleration from 0-40 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 90 km/h. Deliveries are set to begin in April 2024.
Tata Nexon iCNG
Betting big on its CNG lineup, Tata Motors showcased its Nexon iCNG concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. Offering a wide range of new features, it is being touted as the country's first turbo-petrol-powered CNG car, which will be equipped with the company's twin-cylinder technology. The new car comes with a boot space of around 230 litres and boasts a single advanced ECU and direct start in CNG function.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel
India's top car seller, Maruti Suzuki, displayed a new version of one of its most selling products, Wagon R, at the Expo this week. The Wagon R Flex Fuel boasts a powerful 1.2-litre petrol engine modified to run on E20-E85 Ethanol. The car is still in the prototype stage, indicating the company's commitment to exploring more alternative fuel options.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 flex-fuel version
This week, Royal Enfield has unveiled a flex-fuel version of one of its most successful motorcycles – Classic 350. The new version operates on a blend of petrol and ethanol, with ethanol content up to 85%. The key specifications of the flex-fuel motorcycle are similar to the standard Classic 350, including a 349cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 20.2hp at 6,100rpm, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Yamaha FZ-X Chrome edition
Japanese brand Yamaha has introduced two new colours to the FZ-X this week. The motorcycle will now be offered in full chrome and black paint versions. FZ-X with new colours will go on sale soon. It will be backed by the same 149 cc engine, producing 12.2bhp at 7,250rpm. The motorcycle has a five-speed gearbox.
Skoda Enyaq iV EV
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has introduced its Skoda Enyaq iV EV in the Indian market. The price of the all-electric Enyaq iV is expected to be revealed in March. It is expected to come with top-of-the-line Enyaq iV 80x, equipped with a 77kWh battery and dual motors that can produce up to 265hp.

Volkswagen to introduce entry-level EV in India
Piyush Arora, CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said this week that the company planning to introduce an entry-level electric vehicle (EV) in India by the second half of this decade. "We are actively working on an entry level EV. It needs a large investment. To justify a three-figure million dollar investment for the new product we need the volumes. Penetration of EVs in India will not be as fast, so we are looking at the possibility of exporting that product," Arora said.
Range Rover Evoque
Jaguar Land Rover has released an updated model for the year for its Range Rover Evoque. The new model is priced at ₹67.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in two powertrain options – a 2-litre petrol engine, which delivers a power of 184 kW and 365 Nm torque and a 2-litre Ingenium diesel engine which delivers 150 kW of power and 430 Nm torque. Both engines are backed by a 48V mild-hybrid system with a belt-integrated starter generator.
