At Auto Expo 2020, Maruti Suzuki unveiled the Futuro-E concept, a coupe-styled SUV, for the first time, highlighting its technology-agnostic approach and focus on smart hybrid vehicles.
“Today, we showed at Auto Expo our mission ‘Green Million’ and we are committed towards improving the environment,” CV Raman, senior ED at Maruti. told CNBC-TV18.
“We are going to have CNG vehicles, smart hybrid technology, we will have strong hybrid technology and we are going to have electric vehicles also in future. Therefore, our intention was to showcase the Futuro-E as a design concept for young India,” he added.
Talking about Futuro-E, Raman said, “Our design team has done a market study and understood that the young, progressive India needs a new type of vehicle and SUV being the theme of the Indian customer, we are showcasing our new design language in the concept Futuro-E.”
“Therefore, from a concept perspective it’s a coupe type of SUV which is not there in Maruti Suzuki’s stable as yet and the overall proportion, stance and the kind of design which we have are to meet the requirement of progressive India,” he added.
