Ather Energy to introduce family scooter and enhanced 450 series in 2024: CEO Tarun Mehta

 

The new family scooter aims to address practicality issues with the current 450S and 450X models. This new e-scooter is expected to offer a larger seat, more spacious floorboard and increased boot space. The scooter could also be tuned for greater range and gentler performance. It is expected to be priced below the existing 450 range, which starts at ₹1.30 lakh.

On the family scooter, Mehta said, “It’s designed with your entire family in mind, offering comfort, ample size, and a whole lot more—all wrapped up in one fantastic package. Even better? We’re ensuring it’s affordable, making the Ather family experience accessible to more people.”

The evolved 450 series scooter is set to offer enhanced performance and could potentially increase acceleration and top speed, reaching up to 100kph. The design could also be updated with new features. Despite a premium price tag, Mehta assures that the cost will be justifiable.

Mehta further added, "For those who loved the 450X, we’re shortly introducing an evolution of the 450 series. This new iteration is set to be the absolute pinnacle of refined performance. It will have best-in-class features that will redefine your riding experience. We’re launching in early 2024, and yes, it comes with a premium price tag, but trust me, it’s worth every bit.”

The upcoming family e-scooter has been spotted during testing. It features a conventional design with a wide, flat seat and footboard. While the technical details for the upcoming e-scooters remain unknown, it is expected to feature LED lights, a touchscreen instrument console, alloy wheels, and a front disc brake.
