Restrictions imposed by the government on import of refined palm oils was a positive step for farmers, industry and workers, said Yoga guru and co-founder of Patanjali Ayurveda, Baba Ramdev.

Restricting import of refined oil has been the industry’s ask. With this, of the 90 lakh tonne of total imported refined oil, 25-30 lakh tonne will be refined in India, he told CNBC-TV18.
The government has put refined bleached deodorised palm oil (RBD Palm Oil and RBD Palmolein) in 'restricted' category from 'free'.
"Government needs to address agriculture sector and farmer woes. It should bring in long-term strategies to create employment in agriculture and other sectors, he further mentioned," said Ramdev.
