With protests at Delhi borders entering its second week, Centre made yet another overture in a bid to placate the farmers, who have been demanding a rollback of the central farm laws and legal sanctity to minimum support price among others.

Centre in its draft proposal has not mentioned a rollback. It has, however, said that the current MSP mechanism will continue.
The government has said that it would look at giving an assurance on MSP in writing. However, there is no mention of making it a legal guarantee, a demand that farmer unions have been adamant about.
That's not all, the draft proposal also mentions that the government would look at amending the laws in order to enable state governments to register mandis.
Further, Centre said that it can look at giving farmers the option of approaching civil courts for a redressal in case of dispute. The new laws say that SDM and the collector's orders will be equivalent to a civil court order in case of a dispute.
