Government targets 283 mt food grain production in 2018

Anticipating normal monsoon, Government of India has set a food grain production target of 283.7 million tonne (MT) for the year 2018-19.

The total target of food grain production during Kharif and Rabi season has been set at 140.20 mt and 142.5 mt.

Production target for rice is 113 mt against 111 mt in 2017-18, pulses at 24 mt against 23.9 mt in 2017-18 and oil seeds at 36 mt against 30 mt in 2017-18.
