Former Prime Minister and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan could face serious legal consequences after the Islamabad High Court on Thursday rejected his plea seeking bail and quashing the First Information Report (FIR) related to the cipher case.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed Imran Khan's petition seeking a halt in proceedings against him in the cipher case by a special court under the Official Secrets Act, Geo TV reported.
The former Prime Minister and his then foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were indicted in the cipher case by the special court on Monday under the charges of violating the secret law by misusing and misplacing the diplomatic cable based on conversations between Pakistan's envoy to Washington and the US diplomat during the tenure of his government last year, the report added.
