A train collision between a freight train and a passenger train on Monday (October 23) in the Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, has left at least 15 individuals dead and over 100 others severely injured.
The accident transpired when a freight train en route to Chattogram violently collided with the Dhaka-bound Egaro Sindur Express, around 3:30 pm local time, the Bhairab Railway Police Station duty officer, Sirajul Islam, told the media.
"Fifteen bodies have been recovered so far from the wreckage. Death toll could rise," informed Shahjahan Sikder, the media chief of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
