Have every reason to believe Delhi exit polls are correct, says Outlook’s Ruben Banerjee

Ruben Banerjee, editor-in-chief, Outlook, on Tuesday said that there is no reason to believe that the Delhi exit polls are incorrect, implying the AAP was very much in a comfortable position to win the assembly election.

“I have every reason to believe that the exit polls are correct and as we go along the day the result will bear it out,” said Banerjee.

Early trends of counting on Tuesday showed that AAP was leading in more than 40 seats and the BJP was leading in 22.

Talking about BJP’s state versus centre dynamics, Banerjee said, “Voters have now become smarter. They know that this is a local election, so local election matters. They didn’t fall for Modi’s persona. So national issues did not matter however much the BJP tried to hustle them."

“What’s very interesting for me in this election is that possibly Kejriwal has now created a kind of a template which other opposition parties can try and replicate,” Banerjee added.
