The realm of cryptocurrency and finance has been buzzing with excitement over the concept of tokenising real-world assets on the blockchain. In essence, this involves transforming ownership of tangible assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, and commodities into digital tokens.
As per projections by the Boston Consulting Group, the tokenisation industry is anticipated to reach $16 trillion by the year 2030.
Even the US Federal Reserve has taken notice of this trend and recently published a working paper to explore the advantages and potential applications of asset tokenisation.
Meanwhile, in India, the regulatory body known as the International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA) has established a committee tasked with crafting regulations for the tokenisation of tangible assets, both real and physical.
To gain insights into the global economic implications of tokenisation, CNBC-TV18 conducted interviews with three key figures: Dilip Chenoy, Chairman of the Bharat Web3 Association, Ashish Anand, Founder and CEO of Bru Finance and Whrrl and Pranav Maheshwari, Solutions Architect at Edge & Node.
