We should make GST more simple, transparent and more user friendly because more than 18 lakh registered dealers are small people who do not pay much tax but they are registered in the GST, said Sushil Modi, Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar.
He further added, "There are very few items which in the perception of the consumer is in the higher slab. Ultimately these 4 or 5 slabs should come down to 3 slabs - merging 18 percent and 12 percent, a new slab of 15 or 16 percent, that is the ideal condition and very few items in the 28 percent slab. I don't know how much time it will take to achieve that target because it all depends on how the revenue stabilises, how much buoyancy is there. Let the revenue stabilise, let us see the next 5-6 months how we are growing in revenue and then we can take a call on these subjects."
