CNBC-TV18 has learnt that an overhaul of goods and services tax (GST) rates is unlikely in the upcoming GST Council meeting. GST Council meets once in every three months and now the meeting is likely to be scheduled to take place in March.
However, the government wants to be in a wait-and-watch mode right now. It wants to see revenues to stabilise first before moving to a 3-slab structure.
According to sources, the government would not like to make any changes, especially in the slabs of 18 percent and 28 percent.
