Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, is located on the southern banks of the Krishna river in Guntur district. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is entrusted with planning, co-ordination, plan execution, promoting and securing the planned development of the capital region.
In the last four years, government was able to aggregate around 34,000 acres of land from almost 28,000 farmers through one of the largest land pooling schemes in the world. Currently, 52,000 acres of land are in state government’s possession.
If all goes through plan, Amaravati will set a blueprint for the development of greenfield cities in India.
