In India, chai is not just a beverage, but it’s an integral part of culture. Though many videos of absurd recipes often appear on social media a recent video of
making tea in an unconventional way has left tea-lovers fuming.
The video, shared by a user on X, showcases a unique method of
preparing tea. The video shows dry roasting of tea powder with sugar on a non-stick pan. Then cardamom and ginger are added to the mix and finished with by adding milk.
A user, named Monica Jasuja, couldn’t hide her disapproval and humorously suggested, “I strongly condemn this new way to
make chai. Should we file a petition in SC to stop this nonsense?”

Many users responded with a flurry of witty comments. One user quipped, “That is not
tea. That is some horrid Chai Tea Tikka Masala Gravy concoction.”
Another user humorously asked, “Amul butter ka tadka kaha hai??”
Taking a cue from the method of preparation, a third user coined the term “Chai-subzi.”
Meanwhile, another user suggested, “Pyaz, lasun, aur adrak bhi daal na chahiye phir toh.”
The video has garnered more than 2.71 lakh views on X.
It’s nothing new for weird recipes appearing online. In the name of fusion food and new recipes, videos of absurd food items often appear online and leave netizens surprised.
In December 2022, a video of making halwa using Parle G biscuit went viral.
“Parle G biscuit ka halwa kha lo friendzzzz. Good morning G,” read the post on X.
The viral video showed Parle G biscuit being shallow fried on a pan and then it’s crushed. Later, it is added to a mixture of milk powder, sugar syrup and dry fruits to prepare the dish. This left the netizens shocked and many shared hilarious comments while disapproving of the recipe.
In the video shared on Instagram, a home cook is seen deep frying the Maggi noodles. Then, she adds the fried noodles to a mixture of semolina, coriander leaves, curd and salt. The batter is then baked in a frying pan. She adds all ingredients used in making a pizza, like the sauce, mayonnaise, Maggi tastemaker, vegetables and cheese. Many users shared funny comments on the video with several others calling it unhealthy.
