Reliance Jio continued clock the highest number of subscribers addition for the eighth consecutive month on November 2022 as it added a total of 14.26 lakh users during the month compared to 8.0 5 lakh in October, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data released on Friday.
Its peer Bharti Airtel' subscriber addition in the month under review too witnessed a rise with 10.56 lakh joining the telco, up from 8.05 lakh lakh in the last month.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea continued to see a drop in the total number of subscribers. However, this time it lost fewer users i.e. 18.27 lakh compared to a reduction of 35.09 lakh users in the previous month.
TRAI data showed that
Jio and Airtel have widened their customer market shares to 36.99 percent and 32.03 percent respectively over the previous month while Vi's declined further to 21.33 percent.
Last week,
Reliance Jio announced its results for the October to December period in which it said it added 53 lakh subscribers during the quarter. Analysts had estimated subscriber addition to be lower than the 77 lakh in the previous quarter in the wake of muted smartphone shipments.
The company said ARPU for the December quarter stood at Rs 178.20, rising from Rs 177.2 in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, last week Bharti Airtel increased the price of its minimum recharge for the 28-day mobile phone service plan by about 57 per cent to Rs 155 in eight circles, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh West.
The company has stopped its minimum recharge plan of Rs 99, under which it offered 200 megabyte of data and calls at the rate of Rs 2.5 paise per second. In Haryana and Odisha, Airtel has now started offering the Rs 155 plan with unlimited calling, 1 GB of data and 300 SMSes.
