Tech giant IBM, on Wednesday, inked three pacts with the IT Ministry in areas of semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing. The move assumes significance as India is taking decisive steps to position itself in cutting-edge new technologies.
"These are technologies that will shape the future of tech, represents tremendous opportunities for academic, startup and innovation ecosystem, as also the broader opportunity of creating global standard talent," Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said at a briefing.
Minister Chandrashekhar also added that the agreements are very important as these are the technologies that are going to shape the future of tech and innovation in the coming years — AI, Quantum (computing) and Semiconductor.
Earlier this year,
IBM announced eight other agreements with the Government of India to provide tailored courses to prepare individuals for emerging technology. On September 27, MoUs were signed with agencies from the Ministries of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan presided over the signing of the Memorandums of Understanding. According to IBM, the courses produced under the MoUs will be critical in providing adolescents with the skills needed to succeed in today's digital workforce.
