US-based e-tailer Amazon's Indian arm is looking to bring small tea growers into its global selling platform,
Business Standard reported.
The e-tailer offers above 120 million made-in-India products to the worldwide customer base via Amazon Global with more than 37,000 exporters, the report said. The exporters' list has big names such as Dabur, Titan, Himalaya, Manyavar, among others.
Abhijit Kamra, head of global selling at Amazon India, told the paper that the company has received a lot of interest in various categories, including tea from Assam.
The European, Japanese and West Asian markets seek the handmade exotic tea grown in Assam and the rest of the northeast, the report said, adding that the producers are not able to export directly to the buyers in those countries and instead have to sell their produce from India at lower prices.
