After a terrific domination shown to Pakistan on the reserve day game, India's team management has decided to give rest to a few players. Reportedly, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the upcoming game against Sri Lanka. Whereas Shreyas Iyer, who faced a back spasm on Monday will join back in the playing XI along with Mohammed Shami, who had been India’s first-choice seamer in the format in Bumrah’s absence.
According to Indian Express reports, the team management has taken this decision as the World Cup is just around the corner. India is coming back on several injuries, especially with key players and every decision is taken into consideration that players' comebacks don't get impacted due to excessive workload.
India beat rivals Pakistan by 228 runs after Virat Kohli passed 13,000 in one-day internationals en route to his 47th century and KL Rahul marked his return from injury with a ton in a lopsided Asia Cup Super Four clash in Colombo on Monday. Pakistan's batsmen, needing a daunting 357 for victory after Kohli made 122 not out off 94 balls and Rahul remained unbeaten on 111 off 106, never really got going and finished on 128 with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf both absent through injury.
