India has conducted the first flight test of Mission Divyastra, marking a significant milestone in the country's defence capabilities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, March 11. The indigenously-developed Agni-5 missile, equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, demonstrated its prowess in deploying multiple warheads at different locations.
Modi expressed pride in the groundbreaking success of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists.
Notably, Mission Divyastra is spearheaded by a female project director, emphasising the contribution of women in the project. The successful test positions India among a select group of nations possessing MIRV capability, showcasing the nation's technological advancement in the field of missile technology, the Indian government said in a statement.
