Rural growth has outpaced urban growth, says Godrej Consumer

Rural growth has outpaced urban growth by 500-600 bps for Godrej Consumer Products, said Vivek Gambhir, managing director and CEO of the company.

"We have seen sharp recovery in rural growth in the last six months," said Gambhir.

The Godrej Consumer Products stock has risen over 30 percent in 2018 so far.

Talking about business, Gambhir said, “Our effort is to outperform the industry growth and we are seeing good growth across the board."

“We are seeing continued demand increases in hair colour, in air fresheners and soap,” he added.

On export front, he said that macro environment in Indonesia remained challenging. However, he said the company is satisfied with the recovery in Indonesia and Africa.

"We have mild concerns with regards to South African and Argentinian business," said Gambhir.
