With Congress emerging as clear winner in Telanagana Assembly polls 2023, all eyes are now on who will emerge as party’s choice for
state chief minister (CM).
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is now tasked with the authority to appoint the leader of Congress Legislature Party, who will take over the reins as CM. State President Revanth Reddy’s name tops the list of likely candidates. Revanth has consolidated his position for the post by defeating his nearest BRS rival Patnam Narender Reddy with a margin of over 32,000 votes in Kodangal constituency.
However, NDTV, citing sources said there is no consensus within the Congress yet on who will be the next Telangana CM. The decision will be announced on Tuesday, December 5.
The grand old party has won a clear majority with 64 seats in the 119-member House. The incumbent, BRS, managed only 39 seats, while the BJP bagged eight, AIMIM seven, and the Communist Party of India (CPI) just one.
