Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP releases 4th list of 15 candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, March 22, released its fourth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The list encompasses 14 parliamentary constituencies from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, slated for polling in the initial phase of the general elections on April 19.

As per the list, the BJP has fielded A. Namassivayam from the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency. Namassivayam, presently serving as the home minister of the Union Territory in the N. Rangaswamy government, emerges as a key contender in the electoral fray.

For the state of Tamil Nadu, the BJP's candidate roster reflects a mix of seasoned leaders and fresh faces, fortifying its position in the electoral battleground.

The saffron party released its third list on Thursday comprising former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan contesting from the Chennai South constituency. Additionally, K. Annamalai, Tamil Nadu BJP chief, emerged as the candidate for the Coimbatore constituency, while union minister L. Murugan was fielded from Nilgiris.

With the Lok Sabha elections spanning across 543 parliamentary constituencies, the electoral process will unfold in seven phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding on June 1. Phase-wise polling is set for April 19 (Phase 1), April 26 (Phase 2), May 7 (Phase 3), May 13 (Phase 4), May 20 (Phase 5), May 25 (Phase 6), and June 1 (Phase 7). The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
