The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized Rs 1 crore in "unaccounted cash" and detected proceeds of crime worth Rs 600 crore after raids against RJD Chief Lalu Prasad and his family in a money laundering case related to the land-for-jobs scam. The agency is investigating investments made on behalf of Prasad's family and their associates in various sectors, including real estate.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) called Prasad's son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, for questioning in the case, but he did not appear and has sought a fresh date citing personal reasons. Yadav's premises in Delhi were among several that were raided. The ED said the raid resulted in the "detection of proceeds of crime amounting to about Rs 600 crore at this point of time."
The agency had recently quizzed Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi — former chief ministers of Bihar — in the case.
