INDIA alliance huddle postponed as key leaders skip Dec 6 meeting

Leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc are set to meet at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on December 6 to formulate a strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress party on Tuesday, December 5, said the INDIA bloc meeting has been postponed to the third week of December as many partners were planning to skip the December 6 (Wednesday) meeting. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Bihar counterparty and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav were likely to give the meet a miss.
The development comes just two days after Assembly election results were declared in five states. The BJP mowed down the Congress in Hindi heartland states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. The Congress could register win in Telangana alone.
SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary told media that party chief Akhilesh Yadav has no plans to attend INDIA bloc meeting in Delhi on Wednesday. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will also skip the meeting. "I will be busy in Giridh. I spoke to Kharge Ji yesterday, maybe a representative from our side will go," Soren told news agency ANI.
