Chhattisgarh's newly elected Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, expressed astonishment at his political journey, stating that he never envisioned reaching this far. Sai, who took the oath of office on December 13, shared in his inaugural interview with News18 Hindi that his life has been marked by challenges, having lost his father at the age of 10.
Reflecting on the democratic process within the BJP, he emphasised that positions are earned based on capabilities rather than seeking them. Attributing the BJP's success to public trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurances, Sai confidently predicted the party's victory in all Lok Sabha seats during the 2024 general elections.
In the inaugural cabinet meeting on December 14, the Sai-led government approved the allocation of 18 lakh houses for beneficiaries in rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY), a significant BJP commitment made before the assembly polls.
Critiquing the previous Congress administration for its alleged failure to implement the housing scheme, Sai claimed that it left numerous families without permanent homes, asserting that his government would diligently fulfill the party's electoral promises over the next five years.
Furthermore, he pledged to provide a bonus for paddy procurement, pending for two years since the previous BJP government (2013-2018), to farmers who sold their paddy.
Addressing concerns about religious conversions among tribals, the Chief Minister accused the previous Congress government of endorsing such activities for vote bank politics. Sai committed to exploring measures to curb these activities under his administration.
