Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday, October 19, hit back at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is no less than Hamas.
"The party he (Assam Chief Minister) belongs to is no less than Hamas. He should first read and understand history. He is a part of BJP and should know former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's stand on Palestine-Israel..."
Raut told news agency ANI.

Sarma said it seems like NCP chief
Sharad Pawar will send his daughter Supriya Sule to Gaza to fight for Hamas. "I think Sharad Pawar will send Supriya (Sule) to Gaza to fight for Hamas," Sarma said when questioned about Pawar's alleged remarks regarding India's position on the Israel-Palestine issue.
Pawar had criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for standing with Israel in their war against the terrorist organisation Hamas.
On October 7, PM Modi expressed solidarity with Israel over the rocket strikes launched by Hamas. "Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," PM Modi had posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also targeted Pawar saying that he should strongly condemn terrorism and shun vote-bank politics while talking about the Israel-Palestine issue. Fadnavis said, "My request to Sharad Pawar ji is not to think about vote-bank politics, but strongly condemn terrorism."
