1. Walkeshwar Temple: Considered significant both historically and culturally, the Walkeshwar Temple is located in Malabar Hill in South Mumbai. It was constructed roughly a thousand years ago and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. After a series of modifications over the past several decades, the temple presently hosts grand events on the occasion of Shivratri.
2. Babulnath Temple: Originally constructed in the 1890s, the famous Babulnath Shiva temple draws thousands of devotees daily. Located in Girgaum Chowpatty, the temple is accessible and remains open from early morning till late at night. (Image: Shutterstock)
3. Ambreshwar Temple: One of the few centuries-old temples in Mumbai, the Amreshwar Shiva temple is believed to have been built by the Pandavas at a time when they were looking for sanctuary during their exile. The temple is located on the outskirts of Mumbai and is a very popular getaway among city dwellers.
4. Tungareshwar Shiva Temple: The Tungareshwar Shiva temple is located at the Tungareshwar Hills in Vasai. Very popular among trekkers and nature lovers, Tungareshwar has a Ramkund, and Khodiyar Mataji temple followed by temples of Lord Shiva, Kal Bhairav, and Jagmata Devi. (Image: Wiki Commons)
5. Kopineshwar Mandir: Known for having one of the largest Shivalingas in Maharashtra, the Kopineshwar Mandir in Thane was originally constructed in the Shilahara dynasty.
